Burial in family niches or tombs

Modes of burial

Burial in niches is a rather widespread practice, since it allows a considerable saving of space inside the cemeteries thanks to the verticalization of the tombs. For the burial in family tombs or in private chapels, special cemetery concessions must be available.

The body is enclosed in one zinc case with a thickness of at least 0.66 mm, for hygienic and sanitary reasons, which is usually placed inside the wooden funeral casket so as not to compromise its aesthetic appearance. The zinc is heat welded, so as to ensure the insulation and watertightness of the case, which will then be placed in niches or family tombs, further sealed by a wall of concrete or brick and cement.

The outer wall of the niche can be adorned with photographs and inscriptions, and can be embellished with lighting systems, plants and various decorations.
